CHAPINERO

Always in order to choose my hotel in a safe neighborhood of Bogota, here is the information that I was able to gather on the Chapinero district in the heart of the city of Bogota.

Districts of Bogota - Le Chapinero

Map of the CHAPINERO district in BOGOTALe CHAPINERO district à BOGOTA is often considered part of the Pink Zone. It is located there to the south. This is the 2rd district of Bogota DC This large and rich "district" is home to the Zone G (G for gourmet): an area of upscale restaurants.

Just north of the traditional city center, El CHAPINERO is bounded from Calle 39 in the south to Calle 100 in the north and is bounded on the west by Avenida Caracas and on the east by the mountains.

Zona G is located between Calles 65 and 71 and Carreras 3 and 7.

Eastern Cerros (eastern hills) of Bogota contains a small "rural" part of the district of chapinero and is made up of 3 other ZONES:

  • North part : Usaquén, limit of Chapinero: the call 100;
  • South : Santa Fe, limit of Chapinero: the 39 street.
  • West: Barrios Unidos and Teusaquillo. Chapinero limit / Avenue Caracas.

Bogota neighborhoods - El Chapinero safe or dangerous?

From what I have read, El Chapinero is the less dangerous area of BOGOTA. There would be no insecurity. So, we can walk there in the evening without risking an assault… That's why I chose this place to book my hotel cf. link below:

What to see in the El Chapinero district?

I have not planned to do tourism in this district if it is not gastronomic tourism ...

Restaurants in the El Chapinero neighborhood

I selected a few interesting restaurants but with the little time I planned to spend at BOGOTA, I will not be able to test them all (unfortunately 🙁).

  • Restaurant Gostinos 69 Carrera 5 n ° 69 A-30 T +57 1 313-0612 Gostinos 69 offers its customers seafood at reasonable prices.
  • Bagatelle Calle 70 A n ° 4-99 T +57 1 321-3475. A former bakery, this restaurant looks like a Parisian café. It serves pancakes, sandwiches and salads, as well as breakfast and brunch. La Bagatelle is famous for its “pan de chocolate”.
  • CALL Camino Natural, Calle 71 n ° 4-47, T +57 1 212-3721. Restaurant and organic market. This restaurant is environmentally friendly and offers a menu of organic, vegetarian, raw and vegan dishes.

Given the proximity of COLOMBIA to PERU (gastronomic capital of South America), Peruvian restaurants are numerous and of quality in Bogota.

  • Astrid and Gaston Carrera 7 No 67-64 T +57 1 211-1400. This large and famous restaurant offers the flavors of Peruvian cuisine in Bogota. Reservations are required. We tested the one in Lima (see my article:  PERU D15 Restaurant Astrid y Gaston

but I really want to test that of Bogota !!! We will see on the spot ...

  • Nazca Calle 74 No 5-28, T +57 1 321-3459. It is a Peruvian restaurant whose main course is ceviche.
