10 days in Seychelles – Tour, organization, itinerary, budget

Where to go to the Seychelles, which islands to choose, when to go, what itinerary and what budget for a 10-day tour? These are the first questions I asked myself to organize my trip to the Seychelles by myself.

Indeed, when I saw the prices charged by travel agencies for a 10-day trip to Seychelles on 2 or 3 islands, I quickly understood that it was better to prepare your circuit yourself ...

So these are all the stages of organizing this 10-day trip to Seychelles that I share with you below.

Circuit in Seychelles - Organization of my stay on 3 islands

When to go to Seychelles?

In the Seychelles, I learned that there is a tropical climate: Fairly constant temperatures all year round which vary between 24 ° C and 30 ° C.

But to enjoy very sunny days and light rain, it is recommended to go there during a period which goes from the end of April to the end of June. Indeed, from July to March, there is more precipitation and more particularly in January and February where it is more frequent.

On the other hand, to enjoy diving, the best period would be between October and March because the seabed is more translucent at this time of year.

For me who was planning a relaxing and snorkeling stay on dream beaches, I chose to leave at the beginning of May. Thus, I was able to take advantage of the bridges and thus take fewer days off.

Need a visa to go to Seychelles?

Another advantage of choosing the Seychelles for a short stay is that the formalities are not long. Indeed, with your return plane ticket, no visa is necessary for a trip to the Seychelles.

It is sufficient to present at the airport a passport valid at least 6 months after the date of return and proof of accommodation (confirmation of your hotel or rental reservation). Thus, a short-stay visa is obtained on site, valid for a maximum of three months.

How many islands to visit in 10 days in Seychelles?

My priority for my 10-day tour was to choose the most beautiful islands in the Seychelles for the most beautiful beaches, nice accommodation and some visits.

But among the 115 paradise islands of the archipelago, we had to choose only the most beautiful islands which are accessible easily and in a short time.

In fact, in just 10 days, you have to optimize your time and not waste too much time in transport. So I had to resign myself to forgetting the wild, remote islands, protected from mass tourism because it was too complicated to organize and not at all suitable for a 10-day tour.

In fact, after consulting travel blogs and forums, I, like the majority of tourists, only chose 3 islands for my 10-day tour.

Which islands to choose?

First of all, I compared the Seychelles islands known as the most beautiful in the archipelago: La Digue, Praslin, Fregate Island, Cerf Island, Denis Island, Bird Island, North Island, Silhouette Island or the island of Saint Anne.

Then, I looked at where the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles are and the inexpensive accommodation near these beaches because my budget was a little tight. So, I quickly understood that some islands are inaccessible for accommodation. Indeed, in some, there is only one hotel which is of course a luxury hotel.

So, for my 10-day tour, I chose (for their practicality and accessibility) the two most beautiful islands of the Seychelles: La Digue and Praslin. To these 2 islands, we must add the island of Mahé because passage there is obligatory: It is the main island of the Seychelles where the international airport is located and from where we take inter-island transfers.

What itinerary for 10 days in the Seychelles?

The order of visiting the islands is of little importance but it is better to plan to visit Mahé at the end of the stay.

In fact, it is more prudent to avoid a ferry or plane transfer to Mahé on the same day as your return flight to France because there may be a delay, a cancellation or an unforeseen event that causes you to miss your flight.

For my 10-day tour in the Seychelles, I chose the following itinerary:

  • DAY 1 - Arrival in Mahé at 8 a.m. by Qatar Airways flight + Transfer to Praslin island with Air Seychelles at 15 p.m. - Arrival in Praslin at 12 p.m.
  • DAYS 2-3-4 - Praslin Island
  • DAY 5 - Transfer to the island of La Digue (Cat rose's ferry 15:45 p.m.)
  • DAYS 6-7-8 - Island of La Digue
  • DAY 9 - Transfer to Mahé (Cat Cocos ferry at 7:30 am) + Visit to Mahé Island
  • DAY 10 - Mahé + Airport tours for Qatar Airways flight at 18:35 p.m.

How to go from island to island in Seychelles?

How to get from Mahé to Praslin Island?

Seychelles International Airport is located in Mahé, about 10 km south of Victoria, the capital. This is where all international flights depart and arrive, as well as all Seychelles inter-island flights.

Therefore, for the 1st transfer Mahé-Praslin, I preferred to choose a flight rather than a ferry crossing. In fact, as soon as we arrive at the airport, no need to go very far… All you have to do is change terminal to take the domestic flight from Mahé to Praslin, which only lasts 20 minutes. In addition, by flying over the Seychelles, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the islets of the Sainte-Anne marine park.

How to get from Praslin to Île de la Digue?

La Digue Island is right next to Praslin Island and can be easily reached by boat in a 30-minute crossing. So I chose to make the ferry transfer (15 €) with the Cat rose's ferry at 14:30 p.m.

How to get from La Digue to the island of Mahé?

To go from La Digue Island to Mahé, I also chose the ferry with the Cat Coco at 7:30 am (€ 60). In a little over 1 hour, we reach the island of Mahé by passing through Praslin.

Program of my 10-day tour in Seychelles

The program for my 10 days in the Seychelles is summarized as follows:

  • 1st day arrival and transfer to Praslin
  • 3 and a half days on the island of Praslin
  • 3 and a half days on the island of La Digue
  • 2 days on the island of Mahé

Praslin in 3 days

This island, almost entirely classified as a nature reserve, is simply splendid! To visit it, you have to rent a car to be able to go from beach to beach in complete freedom.

Indeed, on the North East coast of the island, the beaches are all more magnificent than the others.

Anse Lazio is renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Seychelles. But personally, I liked Anse Boudin or Anse Possession just as much.

Which hotel for these 3 days in Praslin?

For my 4 nights spent in Praslin, I chose a hotel on a paradise beach with good value for money: The hotel the Fisherman's Village.

Indeed, it is located on the magnificent Côte d'Or beach overlooking the Chauve Mouse and Saint-Pierre islets. This hotel offers well-equipped and spacious rooms and above all a very good restaurant! In addition, the reception can organize your excursions.

For 750 Euros for 4 nights with breakfasts included, I recommend this hotel without hesitation.

La Digue in 3 days

La Digue is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful islands in the Seychelles. It has a large number of beaches with postcard landscapes: Immense granite rocks placed here and there on white sand beaches and at the edge of turquoise lagoons with clear waters.

Indeed, on the North East coast of the island, the beaches are all more magnificent than the others. To access the most beautiful beaches of La Digue, there are 2 solutions: On foot or by bike!

Anse Source d'Argent voted the most beautiful beach in the world!

The main tourist attraction in La Digue (apart from its dream beaches) is located in the south of the island with the observation of giant turtles. To observe them, either you will come across them in the wild (I was not so lucky) or you will see them in an enclosure at the Union Estate Park on your way to the Anse Source d'Argent beach.

On the other hand, the peculiarity of La Digue Island is that there is no paved road. Cars do not circulate there, which is a plus for those looking for peace and authenticity.

What to do in La Digue in 3 days?

To make the most of your 3 days on La Digue, here are the most beautiful beaches and activities that you can plan on this island:

  • Anse Source d'Argent Beach: This is the most beautiful beach on the island and some have voted it the most beautiful beach in the world. It can only be accessed by going to L'Union Estate (fee) where you can see the famous giant tortoises.
  • Hike to the Eagle's Nest (exceptional panorama)
  • Excursion to Big Sister Islands, congratulated and coconut islands (organized by our hotel)
  • Anse Coco Beach (40 minutes walk)
  • Anse Fourmis Beach
  • Petite Anse Beach
  • Grande Anse Beach (or Canon Point)
  • Anse Marron Beach (or Jacques Point)

Where to stay in La Digue for 3 nights?

For the 3 nights spent in La Digue, I of course chose my hotel facing a magnificent white sand beach with a turquoise sea: La Digue Island Lodge. Its location is perfect for visiting the island, especially as the hotel rents bicycles.

500 meters from the inter-island ferry, this location is convenient for making the most of the last day and not leaving for the ferry until the last moment!

As for its price, it was very fair because I only paid 700 Euros for 3 nights with half board: breakfasts + dinners included!

Mahé in 2 days

There is plenty to do on Mahé as it is the main island of the Seychelles where Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles, is located. Creole houses, colorful streets, the Bazar (market in the heart of old Victoria), the Clock Tower, and its many dream beaches. It’s difficult to put together a nice program in just 2 days on site!

What to do in Mahé in 2 days?

In 2 days on Mahé, you can discover cultural sites, viewpoints and dream beaches:

  • Visit of Victoria (Hindu temple - Bazaar market - Clock Tower)
  • Beau Vallon beaches
  • Route de Sans Soucis leaving Victoria via the Bel Air district, it is one of the most beautiful roads with fantastic views!
  • Crossing the Morne Blanc Park (on the Sans Soucis road)
  • Anse Royale Beach
  • Anse Intendance Beach
  • Takamaka Beach (the most beautiful of all).

Itinerary to visit Mahé in 2 days

Where to stay for 2 days in Mahé?

When I looked for accommodation in Mahé, I did not want to find myself surrounded by concrete, with a crowd of boaters on the beach… So I avoided taking my hotel in the north and on the west coast of the island because it is there that there are many seaside resorts too busy for my taste.

I preferred to privilege the calm and the beauty of a postcard beach by choosing Takamaka beach in the south of the island.

Even if the reception is not up to par, the accommodation I chose had a dream location and a low price (220 Euros for 2 nights with breakfast included).

    1. No, the budget does not include plane tickets because it depends on where you are leaving and when you are leaving. In addition, this budget is 2 years old so unfortunately we have to apply a good increase to it.
