2 weeks in Scotland - The village of Plockton
This is the prettiest village in Scotland on my tour. Everything is there to enchant the swoony: little houses adorned with flowers, a magnificent bay with ochre hues, a picture-postcard landscape… It's a real little gem!
But as nothing is ever perfect, we were attacked early in the morning by swarms of midges that appear very early in the morning or evening. These tiny mosquitoes burrow into your hair, your ears, your clothes… Help!!! Luckily, a Scotsman took pity on us and offered us the ultimate weapon:
2 weeks in Scotland - Restaurant in Plockton
Before booking our excursion to see the seals the next day, we immediately went to the PLOCKTON SHORES restaurant, which had been recommended to me. They serve the best scallops in Scotland, it seems. However, due to its popularity, the restaurant has long queues for tourists… So, wisely, we booked our lunch without delay!
So it's by walking around and taking beautiful photos that we look forward to lunchtime.
And the wait was rewarded! The dishes were more than excellent, the Saint Jacques and other crustaceans tasted like nowhere else ...
2 weeks in Scotland - Plockton's seals
So the next day at 10:30 am we set off to meet a seal colony aboard a typical boat with a very friendly and funny guide! A lovely, invigorating 1-hour trip that takes a short tour on Loch Carron and allows you to discover and observe seals lying on the shores of some islands up close.
Hotel near Plockton - Tingle Creek Hotel
Accommodation options must be less plentiful than elsewhere because when I looked for a bed and breakfast, everything was fully booked for my dates in August. So I had to book a hotel a little further out (15 minutes from Plockton) but very pleasant and in a superb location. Plus, it brought us closer to our next stop: the Isle of Skye.
At the water's edge, you can enjoy a superb view of the sea and the Isle of Sky in the distance… Important point for the evening (when you don't really want to go out to dinner): an on-site restaurant ! Everything was good except the price a bit high (150 Euros).
