2 weeks in Scotland - The village of Plockton
It's the prettiest village in Scotland of my circuit. Everything is there to enchant the gneux gneux: small flowery houses, splendid bay with ocher colors, landscape of postcard… It is a true small jewel!
But as nothing is ever perfect, we are attacked in the early morning by clouds of midges which appear very early in the morning or evening. These tiny mosquitoes are embedded in your hair, your ears, your clothes… Help !!! Fortunately, a Scotsman took pity on us and offered us the lethal weapon:
2 weeks in Scotland - Restaurant in Plockton
Before going to book our excursion the next day to see the seals, we immediately went to the restaurant PLOCKTON SHORES that was recommended to me. Indeed, we eat the best scallops in Scotland. However, a victim of its own success, this restaurant has long queues for tourists… So, wisdom prompts us to book our lunch without delay!
So it's by walking around and taking beautiful photos that we look forward to lunchtime.
And the wait was rewarded! The dishes were more than excellent, the Saint Jacques and other crustaceans tasted like nowhere else ...
2 weeks in Scotland - Plockton's seals
It is therefore the next day at 10:30 am that we go to meet a seal colony aboard a typical boat with a very nice and funny guide! Pretty invigorating walk of 1 hour that takes a little tour on the Loch Carron and allows you to discover and observe very closely seals lying on the shores of some islands.
Hotel near Plockton - Tingle Creek Hotel
Accommodation must be less numerous than elsewhere because when I looked for a Bed and Breakfast, everything was full for my dates in August. So I had to book a hotel that was a bit out of the way (15 minutes from Plockton) but very pleasant and beautifully located. Plus, it brought us closer to our next step: theSky Island.
At the water's edge, you can enjoy a superb view of the sea and the Isle of Sky in the distance… Important point for the evening (when you don't really want to go out to dinner): an on-site restaurant ! Everything was good except the price a bit high (150 Euros).
