The last part of our Laos-Cambodia tour ending with 3 days in Siem Reap, we had to organize our passage from the Laos Cambodia border who goes through theobtaining a tourist visa. Here is some information that was useful to us in requesting a e.visa for the passage of the Laos-Cambodia border.

How to cross the Laos Cambodia border?

Of the 4000 islands in Laos, we had to go to Siem Reap and therefore cross the border of Cambodia. We therefore had to obtain a tourist visa. This visa is obtained for crossing a border and is valid for 30 days (within 3 months of the date of issue).

However, to obtain a tourist visa for Cambodia, 3 choices are possible:

  • apply online for e.visa in advance (only accepted at certain border posts),
  • do formalities directly at the border post Cambodian,
  • plan to get in advance a visa via the embassy.

Apply for an e.visa for Cambodia on the internet

This is the solution we have chosen so as not to waste time on site and be sure to have our visa in our pocket!

To apply online for an eVisa for Cambodia, the official link is: http://www.evisa.gov.kh.

You will need to enter the date of entry into Cambodia, the address of residence and especially the entry point to Cambodia (border post): Cham Yeam, Poi Pet, Bavet or Stung Treng.

For my part, ranging from 4000 islands to Siem Reap, the border post was: Tropaeng Kreal Border Post (Stung Treng).

We fill out the form online, make the payment by card and receive confirmation of payment by email.

It will take a few days for receive e.visa by email. This must be printed in duplicate and must be presented at the border post duly pasted on a page of your passport.

The price of e.visa for Cambodia is 36 USD.

Apply for a tourist visa for Cambodia directly at the border

Cambodia visa can be issued on arrival at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville / Kompong Som international airports, in the port of Phnom Penh, and at some land border posts between Cambodia and Laos, Thailand or Vietnam. You will need to present your passport, a ID photo and your return plane ticket.

Le price is 30 USD plus an additional $ 5-8 baksheesh.

We did not choose this solution because we were afraid of wasting too much time in these formalities and in endless queues, especially if we pass after a tourist bus ...

Apply for a tourist visa at the Embassy or Consulate of Cambodia

Unless you go directly to the Embassy or Consulate of Cambodia in Paris, you will have to proceed by mail.

The request is made via a form (to be downloaded from the Embassy's website) and must be accompanied by your passport + 1 copy + identity photo + return envelope with A / R slip + 1 booklet of 10 stamps at 20g for the return of your passport. the price is 35 USD.

Embassy of Cambodia : 4 rue Adolphe-Yvon - 75116 Paris. Phone: 01 45 03 47 20
