Why a 1 week tour in Jordan ? What to see, which stages to plan and which route to choose for 7 days road trip in Jordan ? Find out all the details of my tour, the route map and how I organized my trip.
Why a tour in Jordan?
Because I had always dreamed of it: Admire the sunset from the top of the citadel of Amman, visit Jerash, one of the most beautiful preserved Roman cities in the Middle East, get away from it all and lose your way north in the Wadi Rum desert, cross the long passage with orange and golden lights to arrive at the great site of Petra, let yourself float on the salty waves of the Dead Sea ... You see that you too are beginning to dream!
So, I calculated that by leaving on December 26 (to spend Christmas with the family) and returning on January 3, we could go to Jordan for 8 days.
Yes, but are 8 days (7 full days on site) enough to see all the most beautiful sites?
In addition, reassure yourself if you hesitate in relation to the insecurity that there could be. In effect, Jordan is not a dangerous country.
Jordan tour - What to see in 1 week?
This is where it gets complicated ... because Jordan it is a very small country but a great concentration of historical, Roman, religious, cultural and natural sites.
So I quickly realized that I won't be able to see everything in such a short time. So I sacrificed the Red Sea part in the very south of Jordan, which nevertheless attracts a lot of tourists for its beautiful beaches and the quality of its seabed.
But as I don't dive and the sun may be shy at the end of December, I preferred not to go there and keep more time to enjoy the other sites.

7 days in Jordan - Cheap hotels on my tour
After stopping the program, defining the route, booking the plane tickets, I started looking forcheap hotels for the stages of my tour. And there, I must admit that I was surprised because the hotel prices are much higher than I expected! Perhaps the “end of year celebrations” or “school holidays” effect…
Fortunately, by booking well in advance, I was able to find good maps of hotels in a good location, with decent comfort and above all, not too expensive.
Days 1 to 3: AMMAN - Al Houriat Hotel
Days 3 to 5: PETRA - Edom Hotel
Day 6: DESERT WADI RUM - dream camp (tents among the Bedouins)
And if you want to follow my tour from day to day, here is our 1st day sightseeing in Amman !
