Scotland tour in 15 days - Benromach Distillery
We leave Elgin to visit a very different whiskey distillery than the ones we have seen before. Compared to others, Benromach is a small distillery (production of 500 liters per year). His whiskeys have fruity, light and slightly peaty aromas (I repeat what the connoisseurs told me…). Our madly passionate guide amazed us at their production and technique even though the tour was in English and we did not understand everything ...

Tour Scotland in 15 days - Fort George
We leave the region of the distilleries to go to Fort George 30 minutes drive. It is in freezing cold with a little biting wind that we discover this gigantic and imposing fort. It is a superb artillery fort from the 18th century which is located on a promontory overlooking the Strait of Moray First.
We were very lucky because, without knowing it, we came across a themed day with the vivid exhibition of different periods in Scottish history. Parades, shows, open-air museums, collection of weapons, jibs ...
We stayed there all morning, discovering at each stand incredible stories and treasures that have remained intact over the years. The ramparts allow you to take a beautiful walk with a superb view of the sea.

Scotland tour in 15 days - Highland landscapes
After this morning in the heart of Scottish history, we take the road back toInverness the capital of Highlands. We drive about 45 minutes and cross sublime landscapes. Yes, there it is, we are finally in the rough, wild and splendid region of the Highlands.

Tour Scotland in 15 days - Visit Inverness
We started with a little tour of the city, at the Victorian market, did a little shopping ... Then head to the church The Free North Church where we had an incredibly warm welcome. Yes, we were surprised that a parishioner spontaneously came to offer us a visit to her church and some information on her religion.
Then we climb the hill to go to inverness castle but in addition to the cold, the rain is invited… It's a shame to see this building in pink sandstone under the gray. Tampis for the gardens all around, we speed up the visit a little to go and rest warm in our Bed and Breakfast. This is just a short break because tonight we are going to experience the real Scottish pub…

Tour Scotland in 15 days - Music and beer pub!
For this beautiful evening, we chose the oldest pub in the Highlands: THE GELLIONS ! A true institution, this pub is a convivial place where the Scots go every evening after work to have a few beers but above all to meet up, laugh, discuss and even dance.
Apart from the hubbub that gets drunk as much as the beers, I absolutely loved the warm, happy, surprisingly good-natured atmosphere of this place. People are huddled together, everyone participates in conversations (when we can hear them), everyone laughs, shouts, sings… it's just the happiness of being together.

Cheap hotel in Inverness
Here is the B&B that I had booked for its ideal location right next to the historic center of Inverness. I appreciated being able to park the car easily near the accommodation. We were always greeted as kindly as elsewhere. From this accommodation, you can easily make sightseeing tours on foot. The room was clean, well equipped, but a bit small. It was one of the best B & Bs in this area Low price and if near the historic center that I had found in Inverness.
