What to see in Koh Samui in 2 weeks – Itinerary to visit the island

What to see in Koh Samui in 2 weeks? Here is my tourist circuit with map and itinerary to visit the island of Koh Samui.

In fact, when I myself planned my 2-week trip in this Thailand paradise island, I organized myself in advance. I looked for what are the most beautiful places in Koh Samui for the beaches but also the most beautiful visits to do on the island (temples, natural sites, markets, small villages, viewpoints).

So, if you want to spend 2 weeks in Koh Samui to enjoy the most beautiful beaches but also to discover all the facets of the island (landscapes, heritage, culture, way of life), then here is how I organized my trip .

How many days to visit Koh Samui?

Travel agencies usually offer extensions on the island of Koh Samui from 3 to 7 days. Indeed, the tour of the island and the visit of the must-see sites can be done in 3 or 4 days.

In 3 or 4 days, you will probably see the main tourist sites but you will not fully enjoy the beautiful hikes in the heart of the island, the small local markets, the sunsets on the beach bars or the excursions on the most beautiful islands around Koh Samui.

Personally, I had planned 14 days to visit Koh Samui. Indeed 2 weeks in Koh Samui allows you to enjoy both moments of relaxation on the dream beaches but also sightseeing.

Visiting Koh Samui in 2 weeks means discovering the island at the pace of the holidays! In addition, the dimensions of the island of Koh Samui make it easy to visit it in 2 weeks by making a circuit around the island.

How to visit Koh Samui in 2 weeks?

Only 1 hour from Bangkok, Koh Samui is easily accessible without the need for a visa or other formalities. Indeed, for a stay of less than 30 days, your passport is sufficient.

And, to visit Koh Samui in 2 weeks, you will have the choice between:

  • Take a single hotel and take day trips or flutter around on your own. It's a choice that allows you to settle down in one place, no need to pack and unpack your bags throughout your stay. But this is not ideal because you will waste time on the journeys and you will not enjoy splendid accommodation in the best beach spots.
  • Go around the island by choosing its hotels on the most beautiful beaches of Koh Samui and organize the visits according to where you are to optimize your travel times. This is exactly what I propose to you below.

How to get around to visit Koh Samui?

As the tourist circuit goes around the island, you can of course rent a car, a motorbike or a scooter. But that's not the option I chose. Indeed, there is another way to get around to visit Koh Samui cheaper and more convenient.

It must be said that when you rent a car, you have to drive yourself, sometimes you can get lost and you always have to think about where you are going to park it.

In fact, the most used means of transport to get around Koh Samui is the songthaews (tuk-tuk trucks). These are collective pick-ups that circulate all day on the main road (Taweeratpakdee Road) which goes around the island.

As a result, you can take a songthaew anywhere to reach any beach, town or hotel because songthaews run in both directions. Pricing is not at all high and depends on the distance traveled (between 2 baht to 50 baht).

To spot them, they are small red pickups with 2 rows of wooden seats in the back. Just wait for him by the side of the road and raise your hand as soon as you see him coming.
