MONKEY FOREST IN UBUD
From our hotel, we walk (15 minutes) to the Monkey Forest , which we visit at a leisurely pace in 2 hours. There is only one species of monkey: crab-eating macaques.
There are a lot of tourists but as the forest is large, the walk is still very pleasant. I think that when you get to the opening (8:30 am), it must be deserted and suddenly more interesting… but maybe the monkeys are still sleeping at that time!
Regardless, this place is very nice and fun! Be careful not to take any bag, food or water bottle because monkeys are thieves and are attracted to anything they can catch.
If you want the souvenir photo, you can buy a banana for 5 RP (about 000 cents of Euros) and hold it over your head so that a monkey will sit on your shoulder to taste the fruit on your head. .

UBUD MARKET
In the afternoon, swimming pool, UBUD market and shopping… A relaxing day that we particularly enjoyed!
Ubud Market is worth a visit for its atmosphere and colors. But in my opinion, it's far too touristy and therefore no longer authentic! In fact, you only see Westerners on the street. It's the place where you have the least opportunity to haggle, and prices are generally higher than in the rest of Indonesia. So, my advice is: go, but don't buy anything!
Ubud is the place to go shopping. There are countless shops, catering to all budgets. Silver jewelry is very affordable and quite unique. You can also find beautiful ceramic decorative items (handmade in Bali, see photo below).
Furthermore, on the market street in Ubud , numerous local agencies offer excursions to other Javanese islands (see photo below). So next time, head to Ubud to enjoy it a bit more, but especially to set off from there for other islands and other adventures.
Dinner at IBU RAI restaurant in UBUD
In the evening, I had booked a table at a restaurant in an exceptional setting, just 2 minutes from our hotel: IBU RAI . This restaurant is located in the middle of a temple, is beautifully decorated, and offers elaborate, creative dishes with exotic and expertly blended flavors… In short, another excellent restaurant in Ubud for a meal costing around 15 Euros (including drinks, main course, and dessert).
