However, a stay in Guadeloupe is quite expensive. It would be a shame to spend most of the travel budget simply on flights. This is why it is essential to compare in advance.

Here is my selection of the 3 must-do island visits:

Which island to visit in Guadeloupe – Terre de Haut in Les Saintes

The Saintes archipelago is renowned for the beauty of its turquoise lagoons which surround its small islands and for its diving spots. Indeed, this is where you can see turtles, jacks, barracudas and rays in the middle of multicolored corals.

Terre-de-Haut is one of the most beautiful islands ofSaintes archipelago. It's quite easy to get there from Basse-Terre or Trois-Rivières by taking a river shuttle. For example, from Trois Rivières, you will reach Les Saintes in 20 minutes. You then have to organize transport to Terre de Haut.

Otherwise, through a local agency, you can take a magnificent one-day cruise (9 hours) in all the islands of Les Saintes to discover wonderful landscapes, snorkel or dive, swim with turtles on land. below and enjoy the most beautiful beaches (sugar loaf beach for example).

Which island to visit in Guadeloupe – Marie Galante

Even if it is possible to go there by river shuttle, to discover Marie Galante in 1 day, the best thing is to book an excursion.

Indeed, you will be able to enjoy (without wasting time):

  • from the most beautiful white sand beaches to turquoise lagoons (Anse Canot or Folle Anse),
  • the best spots in the coral reefs,
  • of a visit to a rum distillery,
  • to eat in a local specialty restaurant.

Which island to visit in Guadeloupe – La Désirade

In general, the agencies offer excursions to the island of La Désirade and to the nature reserve of Petite Terre. These islands are accessible in 45 minutes from the town of Saint-François.

Petite-Terre is a nature reserve made up of two islands: Terre de Haut (not open to visitors) and Terre de Bas. Excursions allow you to discover iguanas, snorkeling sports (turtles, coral reefs, exotic fish) and the lighthouse at the end of the world.

On the small island of La Désirade (11 km long and 2 km wide), you can enjoy the splendid Anse du souffleur beach and eat locally in a nice little restaurant.
