Of course, you can hire a vehicle when you arrive at the airport, but to be on the safe side, it is better to book in advance on the internet. This way you will be able to compare prices and you are guaranteed to have the chosen vehicle on the date of your arrival. When we decide to visit Corsica, we hope to be able to discover as many places as possible but, given the travel times on site (especially in summer), it is necessary to calculate and prepare in advance a circuit that is feasible. Therefore, since it is not possible to discover all of Southern Corsica in just 3 days, I made a list of must-sees in South Corsica :- Ajaccio;
- Propriano;
- Sartene;
- Bonifacio;
- Lavezzi Islands;
- Rondinara beach;
- Palombaggia beach;
- Porto-Vecchio;
- Roccapina beach;
- Ajaccio;

South of Corsica in 3 days - Map of my itinerary
For a general overview, here is the map of my circuit in South Corsica in 3 days. Of course, if you have a few more days, this trip will be even more enjoyable because you will have more time to enjoy the places on site and especially the magnificent beaches of the South. Despite everything, for a 3-day optimized tour, it is quite achievable!3 days in the South of Corsica - Program of Day 1
Road trip South Corsica - Ajaccio
To achieve this road trip in 3 days, it will be better to leave quite early in the morning from Ajaccio (after having visited it quickly in 1h or 1h30). The best will be to take a short walk in the Ajaccio old town walking through its colorful streets, quickly visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the imposing citadel and the Tino-Rossi marina.
Then without delay, you will take the road for a long journey towards the South (Ajaccio-Bonifacio road of about 140 km).
Road-trip South Corsica - Propriano
You will be able to take a 1st break at Propriano after 1 hour and a half of driving. Why not have a little coffee in this pleasant little seaside resort in the heart of Gulf of Valinco ? Then you have to continue the road through Sartène to arrive in Bonifacio after about 1 hour and a half drive from Propriano. Just a good plan if you have to buy good and real Corsican charcuterie:
Road-trip South Corsica - Bonifacio
We have finally arrived at the extreme south of Corsica: at Bonifacio built on beautiful limestone cliffs! If you rode well and left early, you will most likely be on time to eat. Stroll through the Citadel and have a quick lunch on the port of Bonifacio .
Road trip South Corsica - The Lavezzi Islands
The archipelago of Lavezzi Islands in the south of Bonifacio are characterized by landscapes of granite rocks placed on magnificent beaches where the sea protects exceptional seabed. To take full advantage of superb beaches of the Lavezzi Islands, it will be necessary to plan to spend a half day there. Just 1 kilometers from Bonifacio (2 minutes crossing), you can choose to:- take a cruise (Lavessi Islands Island Of Billionaires De Cavallo Lagoon De Piantarella Caves…);
- or board a shuttle that will drop you off directly on a small island in the archipelago: the Lavezzu Island .
On the way back, take some pictures of the cliffs of Bonifacio at nightfall, it's just fabulous!

3 days in the South of Corsica - Program of Day 2
South Corsica in 3 days - Rondinara
Early departure towards Porto-Vecchio for a 1 er swimming stop at Rondinara beach. Only 18 km from Bonifacio, in a seashell-shaped gulf, the bay of Rondinara beach is a pure wonder!South Corsica in 3 days - Palombaggia
About 20 km from the Rondinara beach (1 hour journey) is a second exceptional beach in South Corsica: the Palonbaggia beach . This is one of my favorites, but only in the off season because otherwise there are too many people! White sand, turquoise waves, this beach is a postcard and gives as a bonus a point of view on the Cerbicale Islands. You will enjoy it until around noon.
South Corsica in 3 days - Porto-Vecchio
A ride to Porto Vecchio, an ancient Genoese citadel, on a hill facing the sea. To explore it quickly, do not hesitate to take the little tourist train or just go up in fifteen minutes to the Citadel and explore the old town. For lunch, I can only recommend the only restaurant that I tested in Porto Vecchio: the Alta Rocca restaurant (6 Rue Aspirant Michelin). In the heart of the citadel, it offers Corsican cuisine with obviously Corsican cold meats and cheeses!South Corsica in 3 days - Roccapina
On the way back to Ajaccio, we will stop at Lion of Roccapina (about fifty km from Porto Vecchio). It is a rock in the shape of a lion where one can climb to discover a view of the magnificent Roccapina beach . Swimming and relaxing in the sun, then we set off again for a 2 hour drive to arrive in Ajaccio in the evening.
Stay in South Corsica - What hotel in Ajaccio
For this stage in Corsica, I recommend thehotel Kallisté. Very well located in the city center (only 400 m from the casino and Saint-François beach), it provides all the comfort and services you need for one or two nights. To complete your 3 days tour in Corsica, I propose you to- Discover the Gulf of Ajaccio,
- See by sea the north coast of Ajaccio with, among others, the residence of Tino Rossi, the marine cemetery and the citadel of Ajaccio,
- Discover the islands of the Sanguinaires archipelago,
- Enjoy a stopover on themezumare island to enjoy it in complete freedom!
