Bangkok is famous for its numerous rooftops and sky bars which offer breathtaking views of the city. These rooftop restaurants and bars have become must-visit destinations for tourists looking for a memorable experience.
In addition to the breathtaking views, Bangkok's sky bars also stand out for their unique design and ambiance. Some are located atop imposing skyscrapers offering breathtaking views of the city lit up at night, others are renowned for their luxury, while others are nestled in rooftop gardens, creating a more intimate and relaxing atmosphere.
However, there are more and more restaurants and bars on rooftops in Bangkok. So which one to choose?
Which rooftop to choose in Bangkok?
Bangkok is full of rooftops offering breathtaking views of the city, but they all stand out for their atmosphere and price (see 3 inexpensive rooftops in Bangkok). Here are some of the best rooftops in Bangkok in 2023 and their main attractions:
The most beautiful sky bar in Bangkok
Let's start with the Lebua Tower Sky Bar (Hotel Lebua at State Tower) which is one of the most famous rooftops in Bangkok.
Many reviews have ranked it among the best rooftops in the world!
It is also the rooftop that I chose during my trip this summer 2023 because its sky bar is renowned for being the most beautiful in Bangkok.

As soon as we arrive at the 63rd floor of the State Tower (magnificent tower in the most beautiful bangkok neighborhoods), we head outside to the splendid roof terrace.
And there, from its Sirocco Sky bar at a height of 250 meters, it is an incredible spectacle.
The view from the top is simply breathtaking. There you can admire the city's glittering skyscrapers, the Chao Phraya River and even the Wat Arun temple, one of the Bangkok's most iconic sites :

Rooftop Bangkok dress code
Adherence to proper dress code and etiquette is required to access the Lebua State Tower Rooftop Bar.
In fact, you should dress smartly: Men should wear pants (no shorts), a shirt, and dress shoes (no sneakers), while women can opt for a dress or formal wear. .
You should not wear flip-flops, shopping bags, backpacks or suitcases.

My opinion on the most beautiful rooftop in Bangkok
This rooftop is exceptional for the beauty of its architecture, its equipment, for the VIP welcome we receive and for its spectacular 360°C views.
On the other hand, the price is exaggerated: €25 for the cheapest drink (non-alcoholic cocktail).
In terms of atmosphere, the Sirocco Sky bar is not great:
- He plays music that is really too loud non-stop;
- The rules are too strict (areas reserved for those who consume champagne, for example);
- Too many staff supervising customers;
- Too snobbish atmosphere!
Rooftop of The Hangover 2
The rooftop of the Sky Bar of the Lebua State tower in Bangkok served as the setting for the famous film Hangover 2 / The Hangover part II. Since then, this sky bar has offered its customers a cocktail called the Hangovertini, which legend says was invented especially for the film crew.
The highest rooftop in Bangkok
Since 2018, the highest rooftop in Bangkok is the Mahanakhon Skybar. Indeed, the Mahanakhon Tower is the tallest skyscraper in Bangkok and all of Thailand.
At the very top of this tower, there is a restaurant and a bar (King Power Mahanakhon) which provides access 2 floors above to a belvedere. This is where you will find yourself more than 300 meters above Bangkok on a perched transparent platform that gives you the impression of walking on the skyscrapers.

Coolest sky bars in Bangkok
Among the many sky bars in Bangkok, here are the 3 best in terms of atmosphere and decor:
- Vertigo Grill and the Moon Bar which are located on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel;
- Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar which is located on the rooftop of the Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit. This sky bar is famous for its happy hours and 360-degree views of Bangkok. A live DJ often provides entertainment at this sky bar from 20 p.m. Unlike other rooftops in the city, where there is standing room only, this one has ample space to sit.
- The Three Sixty Lounge which is located on the roof of the Millennium Hilton Bangkok. This rooftop in Bangkok has become the spot for Instagrammers who pose in front of the most beautiful views of the city! Its restaurant is located in a dome resembling a flying saucer.

To make your evening a success, here are some tips and practical information:
- Book in advance: Bangkok's sky bars are very popular, so reservations are recommended especially if you want to dine on a rooftop restaurant or want to be seated outside.
- Enjoy Sunset Time: Sunset time is the perfect time to enjoy Bangkok skybars as you can admire the spectacular view while enjoying the warm colors of the sunset.
- Avoid weekends because Bangkok's sky bars are frequented by tourists but also by locals and expatriates and therefore on weekends it's crowded!
- Budget: Sky bars in Bangkok can be quite expensive, so make sure you budget to fully enjoy your evening.
