Best beaches in Martinique - My selection of heavenly beaches

If, like me, before your departure, you want to identify the most beautiful beaches in Martinique to properly organize your stay and enjoy the heavenly beaches, then this article might interest you.

Indeed, I made my small selection of the most beautiful beaches in Martinique taking into account my own criteria because I am wary of the information communicated by tourist offices and other tourist guides.

What are my criteria? Simply that the beach makes me dream. But, blond sand or white sand, palm trees or coconut trees, clear or turquoise waters, small cove or large bay, there are many heavenly beaches in Martinique.

It is therefore impossible to enjoy all the beaches of Martinique in a short week. So, here are the ones I selected which have the reputation of being the most beautiful on the island.

My selection of the most beautiful beaches in Martinique

First, you should know that the majority of heavenly beaches are located in the southern part of Martinique. Here is my ranking of the most beautiful beaches in Martinique:

  • The Grande Anse des Salines
  • L'Anse Michel
  • The Grande Anse du Diamant
  • Josephine's Bath
  • Pointe Marin
  • L'Anse Dufour
  • Pointe Faula
  • L'Anse Mabouya
  • L'Anse Mitan

Where are these dream beaches located on the island of Martinique?

Having a list of the most beautiful beaches is not of much help when organizing your stay. Indeed, you also need to know where these dream beaches are located on the island. Here is information on the location of each of them, their particularities and photos.

The Grande Anse des Salines

I'm not going to be original by starting with Grande Anse des Salines which is reputed to be the most beautiful beach in Martinique. See location of this beach

Located south of Sainte-Anne (in the southern part of Martinique), it is the dream beach, the postcard beach with its coconut trees leaning over immaculate white sand. If you want to enjoy it quietly, you will have to go there very early because its beauty attracts a lot of people.

L'Anse Michel

L'Anse Michel is also located in the commune of Sainte-Anne. See location of this beach

It is a magnificent beach which can proudly take its place at the top of the most beautiful beaches in Martinique! With its postcard decor and its white backgrounds, you can go there for a good nap in the sun in the shade of the coconut trees... And with the richness of its underwater flora and fauna, it is an excellent spot for snorkeling. Parking located 10 minutes walk from the beach.

The Grande Anse du Diamant

L'Anse du Diamant is a dream beach located in the commune of Diamant in the south of Martinique. See location of this beach

Much longer than the large Anse des Salines and it is also less calm. Swimming can sometimes be dangerous there. However, Anse Diamant offers one of the most beautiful views of the famous Diamond Rock.

Josephine's Bath

I'm cheating a little because Joséphine's Bath is not a beach but it's a place that I loved and that I have to mention. It is a sandbank covered with around fifty centimeters of transparent water off the coast of the commune of François.

Located in the South East of Martinique, on the Atlantic coast, François Bay is protected by a coral reef on white sand beds which are the most beautiful on the entire island.

2 kilometers from the coast, between the Oscar and Thierry islets, is this famous Joséphine's Bath which is a simply MAGNIFICENT place! Tradition dictates that we enjoy a good ti-punch in the water in the middle of this superb natural swimming pool.

Pointe Marin

Pointe Marin is also a heavenly beach with coconut trees, turquoise water, white sand and everything. It is located in the commune of Sainte Anne, therefore still in the southern part of Martinique. See location of this beach

This little corner of paradise has attracted Club Med, which has been established there since 1960 (Les Boucaniers hotel). The beach is perfect for enjoying swimming as there are few waves. You can enjoy going there all day because bars, huts and small restaurants line this idyllic place. No worries about parking your machine because the beach is equipped with parking (paid of course).

Sainte Anne Beach

L'Anse Dufour

Anse Dufour is located in the commune of Anses d'Arlet in the south of the island. I loved this beach for its very Martinique side! With its fishing village and boats of all colors, this beach is very picturesque. And, the icing on the cake, its depths are home to sea turtles that can be observed from the coast!

Be careful, here too I advise you to go there early to enjoy the beach without too many people but above all to find a parking space. In fact, there are 2 car parks but they do not have a large capacity.

Right next to Anse Dufour is its twin sister: Anse Noire which is a black sand beach. It is pretty, certainly, but I would not classify it among the most beautiful beaches in Martinique.

Pointe Faula

Located near Vauclin in the south of Martinique but on the Atlantic side (South East), this beach is incredible. Move forward, move forward and move forward again from meter to meter with the water halfway up your calf: this is the particularity of this beach where you can enjoy the white seabed in a dream setting.

Be careful because since my stay, Pointe Faula has been invaded by Sargassum. Make sure this beautiful beach is cleaned regularly before you travel.

Which hotel on one of the most beautiful beaches in Martinique?

When I organized my little week in Martinique, I hesitated between 3 pretty nice places well placed to be able to enjoy the most beautiful beaches in Martinique (see my article: Which coast to choose).

The most beautiful and interesting places were Sainte Anne, le Diamant and Le François. It is the latter which caught my attention because it is very close to Joséphine's Bath and the magnificent islets on white backgrounds opposite François Bay. There, I looked for the best hotel and I chose the Cap Est Lagoon Resort because of its superb “quasi-private” beach and above all for its calm and its services.

But since my stay, it seems that the hotel is no longer so attractive (very bad reviews in customer comments). So, I prefer to recommend another good hotel address:
