Looking for a winter travel destination? Discover my stay in Mauritius carried out from December 16 to 23, 2016. I will tell you in the course of the articles why, how, what to see, where to stay, where to eat…

Little ant had always thought:

“Going thousands of km just to see beaches and coconut palms: it's silly and uninteresting… ”

But it is only the foolish ants who do not change their mind!

Because yes, I went to Mauritius (almost 10 km from France) for his beaches and coconut trees and no it was neither silly, nor without interest!

Where to go in winter - Why choose Mauritius?

In December 2016, we only had a very short week's vacation right before Christmas. We wanted to leave in the sun yes but where ?

For a short week, we didn't want to waste too much time on the plane and have too much jet lag when we got back for Christmas Eve… but we definitely wanted some sun!

We finally choose theMAURITIUS for the following reasons :

Mauritius - The sun in winter

With its tropical climate and seasons reversed compared to the northern hemisphere, Mauritius, off the African continent, met my need for sun. Indeed, the best period to go to this island is between May and December with some precipitation certainly, but an exceptional rate of sunshine and temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 ° C. The water temperature varies between 23 ° C and 28 ° C throughout the year.

Mauritius - Landscapes and the kindness of the Mauritians

Known for its postcard decorations and steeped in a rich cultural heritage, I was curious to discover Mauritius for its white beaches and turquoise lagoons. But I also wanted to discover the Mauritians, their legendary kindness, their culture and their gastronomy ...

Mauritius - Night flights thus saving time

Taking a night flight was a big argument because:

When little ant has little time, little ant doesn't want to waste it and looks for good deals!

We took our tickets with Air France. We left Toulouse (via Paris) at 19:35 pm on December 16th and arrived at 13:30 pm local time in Mauritius. Perfect for making the most of the 1st daytime !

The same goes for the return on December 23, we were able to take full advantage of our last day, return at night and be in France on December 24 in the middle of the day.

Mauritius - Jet lag tiny little

At theMauritius, there are only 3 hours more in winter compared to France. It is really ideal for short stays.

Mauritius - speed and ease of organization

Why make it complicated when little ant can make it simple?

Organize a stay at theMauritius this is done very simply, very easily and very quickly.

First of all for the formalities, as a citizen of the European Union, there is no need for a visa.

For little ant, it's always a few Euros saved and a little time saved!

In addition, the majority of Mauritians speak French which facilitates exchanges and avoids misunderstandings or misunderstandings that can lead to uncomfortable situations.

As far as health is concerned, no vaccine is compulsory.

A considerate little ant will still think about protecting itself from mosquitoes and the sun!

Moreover, the island being very small, it is easy to discover it in a week. No need to think about routes, calculate transport times, set stages ...

Travel throughout the island can be done during the day by bus (very economical), by renting a car or scooter or by taxi.

You just have to choose an accommodation and flutter around it day to day.

Where to go in winter - Why not another destination?

Few destinations met my requirements for the sun, landscapes, night flights, time differences ...

I hesitated between the Maldives, the Seysselles et to Mauritius. But it was MAURITIUS who best met my desires. In addition, for the Seychelles, December is not a favorable period (abundant rains) and the Maldives did not particularly attract me at the time perhaps because of the controversies on certain political and ecological points ...

So, is it decided? You want go to Mauritius ? Maybe in Honeymoon...
