Kuta city
The well-known city of Kuta is located on the southwest coast of Bali. Since the 60s, with the arrival of the hippies (one of the 3 Ks: Kuta, Kathmandu, and Kabul), it has become very touristy.
Let's take a look at what attracts tourists to Kuta and why ?
Choose Kuta for its location
A few kilometers from Denpasar with its airport and facing a large and magnificent beach, the location of Kuta is ideal as seaside resort or to get closer to the airport at the start or end of the tour.
On the other hand, Kuta is not very well located for sightseeing.
In fact, to visit the southern part, you will have to take a taxi or rent a scooter to go to the interior of the island of BALI to discover many beautiful temples and rice terraces.
But Kuta being located too far south of Bali, its position is not central enough to be able to radiate all around as one can do fromUbud.

For its beautiful beach
Kuta Beach is certainly the most famous beach in Bali. Very long, it starts from Kuta Beach and ends at Canggu.
Hotels, restaurants, shops, bars, beach clubs… all kinds of infrastructure and entertainment line this beach.
With its huge waves and the effects of the tide, the surf spots of Kuta Beach are famous and attract surfers from all over the world.
For its atmosphere
I mean for its atmosphere and not for its calm!
Indeed, Kuta is not a city where you will rest... Tourism has transformed it into a concentration of shopping centers, Western brands, fast food (MacDo, KFC...), bars, discos and other entertainment of all kinds.
So, if you want to find all the noise, the marketing, the advertisements, the shops, in short the attributes of our European cities, then yes this place will suit you. VYou can have fun and party as much as you want!
For shopping
With its many fashion boutiques and shopping centers, Kuta will satisfy all shopaholics. From low-budget ready-to-wear stores like H&M, Bershka, New Look, Zara… to more substantial budgets with luxury brands like Chanel, Rolex, or Hugo Boss!
Of course, being the mecca of surfing, brands like Quiksilver, Billabong, Rip Curl, Hurley are also represented there!
For its restaurants
There too, there is something for everyone: from fast food, to street food, local restaurants and other great restaurants!
Here are some references :
- Kedin's Cafe, Poppies Lane I (opposite Kedin's Inn): Good, typical local Indonesian cuisine.
- Mie88, Jl Patih Jelantik 1 (opposite the west end of Kuta Galleria): Indonesian noodles at great prices.
- Nusa Indah, Poppies Lane I (About halfway along Poppies I, across from Masa Inn): Good, very inexpensive Indonesian food.
- Tree house cafe, Poppies Lane I: An often crowded budget restaurant! Specialties: Dutch snacks, such as kroket and frikandel.
- 3 Warung 96 (right next to Poppies 2): This popular restaurant serves western food at reasonable prices.
Choose Kuta for your hotels
Kuta offers a wide variety of luxury hotels. Whatever your requirements, you'll find the perfect accommodation (5-star hotel, resort, or heavenly villa).
But you can also find very decent accommodation much cheaper (from 20 to 50 Euros), especially in guest houses.
Among the large selection of cheap hotels in Kuta, here is my top tip: Kutabex Beachfront Hotel (See this hotel on Booking.com
Why choose this hotel?
- For its location facing Kuta Beach! And right next to the Beachwalk shopping center and the Hard Rock Cafe. In addition, Kuta International Airport Denpasar is only about a 20 minute drive away;
- For its very low price: rooms from 50 Euros per night with breakfast included;
- Because it has a very nice infinity pool on the roof;
- For its beautiful and numerous amenities: air conditioning, cable TV, reception open 24 hours a day with a concierge service, luggage storage, currency exchange, car rental services, laundry facilities, relaxing massages and spa.

What can we fault Kuta?
I've noticed a lot of comments online indicating a strong disappointment. The negative opinions particularly mention the lack of authenticity of this Balinese city, which has nothing Balinese about it! But when you do a little research beforehand (and if you don't like partying), you avoid going there, right?
Perhaps we can blame it for being also a more expensive city than other cities in Bali ... But again, it is the category of tourists that explains the prices charged (many Australians with a large purchasing power , young surfers…).
