SOUTH BALI – TANAH LOT – ROAD TO SANUR – DAY 10

DAY 10 of our itinerary in Indonesia will be shared between visit of the magnificent and emblematic temple of Bali on Tanah Lot and road to Sanur

Tanah Lot Temple

Visit of Tanah Lot temple (Mont St Michel de Bali). Perched on a black rock surrounded by sand, this temple flows into the tumultuous waves of the waves. It is dedicated to the deities of the sea and seems to brave the elements. According to legend, it was erected in the 16th century under the aegis of the Javanese priest Danghyang Nirarta, amazed by the beauty of the site. In fact, the small cliff that runs along the coast of the beach offers a superb point of view. Expect a crowd of tourists, the shops that go with it and of course the street vendors who escort you with a smile!

Small disappointment: we can not enter the temple. Only priests and people participating in a ceremony have the right to enter ... (following the cremation of bodies, the Balinese have the custom of coming to throw ashes into the sea from the top of this temple).

Nice little attraction : the BOA! Here you will have the opportunity to dress a beautiful BOA alive around your neck! It is impressive but without risk. Enough to make a beautiful selfi ...

TANAH LOT TEMPLE BALI
WOMEN CARRYING OFFERINGS AT TANAH LOT TEMPLE

We had planned to spend 2 days in Amed and visit the surroundings. But given the security perimeter imposed by the Balinese authorities around the AGUNG volcano (which was expected to erupt overnight), we had to change our program and head to SANUR to leave there to the GILI islands ...

Where to sleep inexpensively in SANUR?

There in Sanur, it is the best value for money that I have found: 10 Euros per night!

This Guest House is located in a street a little far from major hotels and shops.

The welcome from the family was charming and the two adorable little girls (they stayed with us and gave us their show during our impromptu aperitif in front of our rooms).

The breakfast (extra for 25 IDR / person or 1,75 Euros) was perfect: pancakes, fresh fruit, juice, hot drinks.

If the rooms were really dated, I have to say they were very clean and had AC. We were a 15 min walk from the beach and a 5 min walk from good restaurants. We even had WIFI and a fridge in the room!
