Lima airport and taxis for hotel transfer - DAY 1

Lima airport

We land in Lima at the end of the afternoon. I had booked through our hotel a taxi big enough for 4 people + 4 big backpacks and it was waiting for us at the exit of the airport. The journey from the airport to the center of Lima lasted around 1 hour and cost us 70 soles, or around 16 Euros. This represented 4 Euros per person (here is one of the advantages of traveling together!).

It was in this taxi that we had our first sensations in Peru. Indeed, his driving was more than sporty because we slalomed at full speed between parked cars, trucks, pedestrians… in short we were scared but we laughed a lot! We assumed that the driver was expected after his trip and that he should not be early ... So, we spoke very little with him (he was too focused on his driving and we too worried and "stuck" ...) .

Cheap hotel in LIMA

When we arrived at the hotel, the owner of the Résidencial Carlos was waiting for us with a beautiful smile and an availability that we greatly appreciated. The choice of the hotel was made in relation to its price. Indeed, 42 € with breakfasts, it is not expensive for a hotel in Lima! Especially since there is no point in choosing one in the very center or near a tourist site to spend only one night.

The Residencial Carlos has fulfilled its mission: clean, quiet and with good bedding. The next morning we asked the owner to order a taxi for us to Cruz Del Sur station. Indeed, we were leaving early enough to take the bus to ICA / Huacachina.

Breakfast is taken on a beautiful patio. He was kind and generous. So good address for a "stopover" hotel in the middle of LIMA:  "Residencial CARLOS» Los Ruiseñores Numero 150, Lima 34 +51 1 4427326

Impressions on that first day

I really felt joy and appreciated how lucky I was to be in Peru. And I also felt a certain excitement at the idea of starting a trip that I had been waiting for years… But all that will be for tomorrow and the next days because fatigue is also being felt…
