You are planning your next vacation in Corsica and you do not know how to choose your campsite, nor do you decide between North Corsica et Southern Corsica ? Well, I too asked myself the same questions last year. Indeed, as I don't like to trust the famous special camping guides and various rankings on the Internet which are often the result of hidden remunerations, I preferred to take the time to do my own research.
And, in this article, I will explain the steps that allowed me to make the right choice when booking my campsite in Corsica.
Where to stay in Corsica? Hotel or Camping?
Why did I choose to spend 1 week in campsite in Corsica ? Well, as in that first period of good weather, I wanted to enjoy the sun, nature, to be able to have lunch outside with the song of the birds and especially to have “feet in the water”… he was out of the question to lock me in an apartment or a hotel room! It was not the question of the budget that led me to this choice because I had found very interesting hotel offers in terms of price, particularly in North Corsica… But I felt that I really wanted to go camping in the open air.
Where to stay in Corsica? Choose several campsites?
The question does not arise when making a road trip in Corsica or when we have 15 days of vacation and we can thus share the stay between the North Corsica et Southern Corsica… But for my short week off, as I wanted to visit Corsica while enjoying a relaxing stay, I had no desire to spend 3 days here, 2 days there and another 2 days elsewhere.
So I preferred to look for a place where I could settle down for the whole week and from where I could shine to easily visit during the day and take advantage of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica.
Where to choose your campsite in Corsica? Corsica from the North or from the South?
This is what made me hesitate the most: choosing between North Corsica ou Southern Corsica.
In fact, the North part is wilder and perhaps has more pristine landscapes than in southern Corsica. It is ideal for those who want to hike or trek, to discover unspoiled sites off the beaten track, to enjoy splendid beaches and less invaded by tourists.
But me, for my short weekend getaway, I preferred to get closer to the wilder and more authentic sites of Corsica. And suddenly, I chose to do campsite in North Corsica.
Especially that the North of Corsica has a great diversity of landscapes (sea, mountains, lakes, desert, forests, etc.) and the famous Cape Corsica !
Camping in North Corsica - How to choose it?
Before comparing the different campsites in North Corsica, I started by eliminating all those that absolutely did not suit me because I wanted to avoid above all:
- Stay in a noisy place,
- Put up with too much promiscuity (I hate being stuck to my
neighbors), - To be too far from the beach.
So I looked for "village" style campsites and found on Booking.com a good compromise which would allow me to be in peace, a little withdrawn in nature while being close to the beach.
Then I selected the campsites that met my criteria

And yes, if I make concessions on a road trip because we arrive late
in the evening and we leave at dawn, on the other hand when I go for a stay, there
I look for comfort above all because I know that I will enjoy it for several days ...
And when I speak of comfort, I necessarily include a nice setting, good equipment, a pretty terrace with deckchair to enjoy long naps, a good bed with a quality mattress, air conditioning (essential in summer) and an excellent WIRELESS !!! This is exactly what I was able to find in the campsite in the North of Corsica which I will describe to you below.
Top-notch services and equipment
The most important point for me is the campsite restaurant ! It must offer fresh products and also varied dishes. Suffice to say that I rule out all the campsites that only have a fastfood or a pizzeria! Without requiring the gastro restaurant, I appreciate the good little restaurant that allows to end (or start) an evening in style.
Then come all the activities related to well-being (Spas,
massages, aquagym, yoga ...) which are really the little extra of a top-of-the-range campsite.
The activities of the campsite
For those who have children, this criterion is very important because pool games, clubs, sports activities, water parks,
competitions and foam evenings will contribute to the success of their
vacation.
For me, this is really not a priority criterion. On the other hand, I appreciate that there are activities and places planned for the children because suddenly, they do not play between the chalets which preserves the rest of the "childless" !!!
Safety of the campsite
Ah, there I imagine that you have the mocking smile and think surely: "oh again an anguished woman who sees the danger everywhere ...".
Well no, I don't have psychosis (I still did the Colombia in backpack !!!) but when I want to relax and really let go, I don't want to think about closing the windows just in case, checking if the trunk of the car is properly closed or bringing in the towels before going to bed … So for me, the fact that I could rest with peace of mind was also a criterion for selecting my campsite in North Corsica .
My choice of campsite in North Corsica
A little away from the crowds of tourists, the site I chose for my campsite is perfect for a relaxing stay with a beautiful beach and its many pine forests. Its proximity to must-see sites de North Corsica and Southern Corsica allow to combine a seaside stay with a stay of tourist discoveries.
It is therefore in this region of Balagne in campsite La Pinède, that I spent a dream week's vacation at the edge of a magnificent beach, in a quiet area and very close to the amenities, entertainment and restaurants of the center of Calvi.
Ce campsite in North Corsica met all my criteria, namely:
- Exceptional setting with direct access to the beach;
- Luxury accommodation;
- Good restaurant offering regional dishes;
- Spa and wellness center… everything was there so that I could take good care of myself!
