2 weeks tour in Scotland - Dundee

It is in incessant rain that we leave St Andrews to drive to our next stop: Dundee.

Even if I had to stop there because I had read that Dundee was a city with many facets and with some interesting tourist attractions, I must admit that in the rain, I gave up visiting it altogether ...

2 weeks tour in Scotland - Glamis Castle

After Edinburgh Castle, we will tackle the tours of a long list of Scottish castles. And we open the ball with one of the biggest and most beautiful: le Glamis Castle !

It was in this castle that Queen Mother Elizabeth grew up. She gave birth there to Princess Margaret, sister of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Since 1987, an illustration of the castle has been featured on the ten pound banknote!

I really liked the guided tour with some historical anecdotes but especially the legend of the ghost that haunts this castle. Note that the gardens are huge and beautiful.

2 weeks tour in Scotland - Braemar Castle

This castle is small and atypical with its keep flanked by turrets. It dates from 1628 and was used as a residence during hunting periods. About fifteen rooms can be visited for their period furniture.

2 weeks tour in Scotland - Balmoral Castle

It is the Queen's castle and besides, we had the chance to catch a glimpse of it in her car. Unfortunately, we were in the process of buying our tickets and we just had time to turn around to see her go by. Surprised, I did not have the reflex to take the photo. Queen Elizabeth goes there regularly as she uses this castle as a summer residence.

Don't expect to visit all of the castle's rooms. No, only the ballroom and its exhibition of royal memorabilia is open to visitors.

20 minutes from Balmoral Castle, I found a Bed and Breakfast very nice : Crannach house. Even if the countryside is very beautiful, the setting magnificent and the building superb, I must say that it was Doug the owner who charmed us the most!

Very kind, considerate, attentive, he was able to make our stay unforgettable. And what about the breakfast with bacon, eggs, pancakes and good homemade bread! Price : 89 € including breakfast.
